Barcelona in February
February 20th, 2010
Surprisingly rainy and cold but a truly amazing city. The capital of Catalonia is an heaven for history lovers and seekers of weird and inspirational architecture. The curious mix of Muslim, Christian and modern influences makes this place very unique. As a photographer, there is of course much to do in the city, I would say especially from a photojournalist point of view. There is indeed a lot of culture and a strong feeling of belonging to the catalan community.
- #2,3: 14th century cloister, there are always 13 geese in its central courtyard. Each goose represents one year in the life of the martyr Santa Eulalia.
- #5: Barcelona’s Marathon!
- #7: A birdman, an amazing number of birds was flying around him, a unique experience to be part of it.

Great photos. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share EXIF info (lens, f-stop, shutter etc) regarding the images so we can know how you took those great shots.
Hi Harmeet,
I’m sharing those kind of information on the gallery. All those shots are taken with a Canon 5D Mark II. When I’m traveling light, I’m only carrying this body and 2 lenses, a Canon 17-40L and a 70-200 f/4 IS. As an example, the pictures I took in low light (#2,#3,#4) are taken at f/4, 1/25s, 2500 ISO, this is the best settings I can have when I can’t use a tripod (or I want a freeze a motion) in a low light situation.
Thanks. How can you avoid motion blur without tripod at 1/25 and 1/4? I am only able to get down to about 1/40 without a tripod on my EOS 400D.
Well, usually we use to say that the slowest shutter speed achievable without tripod is 1/focal, so at 17mm, I should theoretically be able to get a sharp image at 1/17 (which doesn’t exist by the way). Of course, you really need to be in a steady position.
Thanks. I didn’t know that. I will remember that tip.
