Wild Alps, session #3

There are places you just can’t get enough. Mont Jallouvre in the Bargy chain is one of them. Although the place is pretty busy during weekends, it is still very generous in wildlife, especially at dusk when everybody’s gone. After years and years of wildlife persecution, most of the Alps’s historical inhabitants are back and it’s a pleasure for the eyes. Naturally, climbing up Mont Jallouvre with all my gear (including a 1D III) was an intense pain in the XXX but fortunately it was rewarding. The place offers a unique view on the whole Bargy chain (#6) and at dusk in the background, the Mont Blanc (#4) even says goodnight.
Knowing the area, I guess it was tedious indeed… especially when you need to get back to the valley after dusk.

Cette fois-ci, ce sont des chamois. Non ? Superbes tes prises de vue. Tu as dû apprécier ton nouvel appareil ! J’aime beaucoup la vue sur le massif avec ce petit lac, comme une flaque d’eau. Et le bonsoir du Mont-Blanc me remplit d’aise. Qu’est-ce que vous avez dû aimer !

So, fill me in…this climb was all a long day hike? Were you hiking back down in the dark, with a flashlight?
I actually like doing such things; it lends a whole different perspective. At night in Zion, we had the pleasure of a visit from a beautiful owl in a tree 10 feet over our heads. When it flew away, there was not a sound.
Photo #3 is clssically perfect…love the way the shadow on his feet just seem to blend seemlessly into the shadow of the mountain behind;
#4 just takes your breath away. Almost seems like it should be CG.
Now there’s another on a different day, different entry…
